Timeline Settings
Timeline settings window contains 4 sections that allow you to customize Timeline to better suit your needs.
The first section contains your authorization details.
Please provide the user name and the password for your Subversion repository. If you are using a PixelNovel account you will need to enter the email address and the password that you used when registered with PixelNovel.
If you wish Timeline to remember your details please select the "Remember me" option.
The second section allows you to change the cache settings.
To speed up loading of thumbnail images Timeline caches them in a folder
on your machine.
You an change the size and location of this folder (by default cache takes
up to 30 Mb and is stored in a subfoler of your Temp folder).
The third section allows you to customize locking settings.
This section allows you to configure how Timeline handles file locking. You can read more about file locking in the Locking files section
Automatically lock files:
You can configure Timeline to automatically lock files when you start working with them in Photoshop. There are 3 auto-locking options:
- Never: This means that Timeline will not attempt to lock files automatically. This is the default option.
- When you open a file: if you select this option, Timeline will attemt to lock files when you open them in Photoshop. Please note: if you open a file that is locked by someone else, Timeline will just display the "red lock" icon as usually and it will not show you a warning message to avoid annoying you.
- When you save a file: if you select this option Timeline will attempt to lock files when you save them in Photoshop for the first time. This option is useful if you often open files without modifying them.
Automatically unlock files:
You can configure Timeline to automatically unlock files when you close them in Photoshop. There are 3 auto-unlocking options:
- Never: if you select this option Timeline will not automatically unlock files. You will need to unlock files explicitly by pressing the "Lock" button when you have finished your modifications. This is the default option.
- When you close a file without any unsubmitted modifications: if you select this option Timeline will automatically unlock files without any unsubmitted modifications when you close them in Photoshop. "Files without any unsubmitted modifications" means that all the changes that you have made to a file have been submitted to Subversion. Visually it means that there is no red unsubmitted version in the Timeline window.
- When you close a file: if you select this option Timeline will automatically unlock files when you close them in Photoshop.
Show a warning if you open a file locked by someone else
If this option is enabled Timeline will display a warning every time you open a file locked by someone else. By default this option is enabled.
Suggest locking unlocked files when they've been saved
If this option is enabled Timeline will suggest you to lock unlocked files whenever you save them. By default this option is disabled.
The fourth section allows you to some advanced settings.
Submt files every time they have been saved:
This option lets you define what Timeline should do when you save a file.
- Ask me: If you choose "Ask me", Timeline will display a dialog to ask you whether you wish to submit your files into the repository every time you save them in Photoshop. This is the default option.
- Always: If you choose "Always", Timeline will automatically submit your files whenever you save them in Photoshop.
- Never: If you choose "Never", Timeline will not attempt to submit your files when you save them in Photoshop.
Update files to latest version if available in the repository:
This option defines Timeline behaviour for the case when you open a file for which there is a newer version available in the repository than the one on your machine.
- Ask me every time: If you choose "Ask me", Timeline will display a dialog to ask you whether you wish to get the latest version of the file. This is the default option.
- Always: If you choose "Always", Timeline will automatically get the latest version of the file from the repository.
- Never: If you choose "Never", Timeline will not attempt to get the latest version of the file from the repository.
Automatically check for updates
This option defines whether Timeline should check for updates.
Log Timeline activity
This option enables Timeline logging. This options helps us to investigates problems that you may come across while using Timeline.
