Who’s using PixelNovel Timeline?
Dustin Walker, freelance designerdustinwalker.com
Dustin Walker is a web designer living in Raleigh, North Carolina. I have been extremely pleased with Timeline – it integrates well into my workflow. I previously manually added the PSD files to my repo but this makes it so much more convenient.
Tell us about the work you do. Do you mostly do designs, or do you also code?
I do equal amounts of design and coding. I design websites for our agency and produce markup that is usually then incorporated into a template for a CMS or Blog.
How did you manage your graphic files before Timeline?
I used to add the psd files manually to the SVN server.
Was it hard for you to understand and start using Timeline?
Not at all. It fit in perfectly with Photoshop and does the exact job that I hopped.
Do you share access to the files with developers/clients?
Occasionally but primarily it is used for personal use. My local SVN server does not have outside access.
Do you feel that your work is more organised and more productive with Timeline? Have you noticed any other benefits of using Timeline?
Yes, I feel it is more organized. Because it was outside of the core application (Photoshop) I used SVN as more of a daily backup for my files. I still would save multiple versions when exploring design decisions. With Timeline I feel free to explore various ideas within the same file which overall makes this process of branching out of the main file less of a hassle.
